Deer Harbor Waterfront Preserve, Orcas Island
This 2-acre property with 650 feet of low-bank marine shoreline and associated tidelands, is located just north of the Deer Harbor hamlet. Mixed forest and an area of open meadow with a walking path, provides public access to the shoreline and views across the harbor to the Wasp Islands. A variety of birds utilize this property, including bald eagles, osprey, kingfishers and hummingbirds. The Land Bank’s restoration efforts at this site have improved important shoreline processes and habitat function to benefit forage fish essential to salmon.

Land Bank Purchase Price: $1,050,000 (2006) with approx. $75,000 (as of December 2006) contributed by Deer Harbor residents toward stewardship of the property.
